2nd in the line up. Silent Hill inspired is like catnip to me. I have to say the story beats did sneak up and bean me on the head. The pacing good, the subplot sneaking up at the last doesn't feel cheap, its back stopped very well. Granted it took me a good while to get the game progressing but it made sense after. And multi endings... I'm going to be keeping an eye on you my good duder. Keep it up.
I liked this little project! It had a nice sense of horror with the little spooks creeping in, the story was pretty interesting only issue is it reminded me of the unspoken cough. Great sound effects too. I enjoyed this and recommend!
The game's ok. It has a slow start, but after that, it gets going. I feel like this game has 2 stories in it and it keeps trying to go one way or the other. (The flu and the accident) I would cut out one of the two stories and focus the remaining story. The scares however, is great. So nice job.
This was really good! I liked the mystery. I got both endings too. (I also donated to patreon too) Some parts disturbed me and some made me feel a little sad for the guy. Here is my playthrough! Hope you enjoy.
Impressive for a game jam! I had a great deal of fun while playing, although, I do share the criticism of many others about the length of the game and particularly the "timer" mechanic.
Best parts of the game are definitely the subtle details - phone calls, character monologues, the atmosphere around the house and ambiguous antagonist. Sound design was perfect, as well as the visuals. It felt very immersive and at the same time empty - in a good way. I felt creeped out during a certain sequence, although, as I said in the beginning, the game dragged a bit too long.
I can't say if it was the "Game Jam" or a personal choice, but the timer was very unnecessary. The title sequence was long, the direction of the game was confusing and I found myself lost at times, especially after interacting with every single item in the house. I do think this can be easily fixed with just an update after the Jam ends, because the game has a huge potential.
In conclusion, good game, but not great. Best of luck with the future developments. Cheers!
I quite enjoyed this game. It really did feel like it had a Silent Hill vibe to it, especially with the home "decaying". It's an interesting take on depression, and I felt like some of his troubles were my troubles. Really enjoyed it though, and I can't wait to play more like this! Great job!
The game has left me thinking; it's a rather intriguing approach to tackle such delicate themes as loneliness and depression. I'm glad that in the end, the game ties up all loose ends, although I must say that the plot was quite simple. The only criticism I can offer is that it doesn't give you any hints about what to do, so the experience boils down to wandering around the apartment and interacting with objects until you stumble upon the right one. I understand that you were aiming to convey a sense of solitude and hopelessness, but at times, I truly didn't know what to do.
Apart from that, I really enjoyed the game, It's like you say: "this kind of experience is not for everyone". Keep up the good work!
With peace and love I know this is Itch IO and you can't expect a million dollar game. However Itch IO has laid out some of the best games I have seen. With all this being said this game was not good. The gameplay was clucky it made it hard to play. The whole time dynamic where we had to sit and wait for the time pass was ridiculous. The plot made no sense it felt like at first there was a monster in the house. Every footstep sounded like a creature was somewhere in the apartment. It than came off as a illness spreading? The flu the black lines everywhere gave me the impression the apartment itself was molding. You gave no idea that this had anything to do with death from the past? Was he dead? Did he drink and kill his family? Was his mom responsible for whoever died? It made no sense and I was close to quitting but wanted to finish it hoping there would be something rewarding it was not.
Sorry you didn’t like it! Keep in mind this game was made for a 7 day game jam. I am well aware it is far from perfect. The mundane and clunky nature of the game is by design to match the stories themes. I understand this kind of experience is not for everyone. Much of the game is focused on themes of solitude and the horrors of being alone. Either way, I appreciate the feedback!
Really great game, story was somewhat easy to follow. Task to be done in the day before sleeping got confusing at time leading to tons of dead parts where the player is wandering mindlessly. Other than that, its a really well made game. Good job!
